My story…..

Hi, my name is Emily Hindell and I’m a mum of two.  I’m a level 3 qualified personal trainer, based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. I’m passionate about health and fitness and my mission is to empower women to develop a positive approach and a love of exercise.

embody | fitness is about helping my clients  ‘embody’ the journey to feel physically and mentally strong in the healthiest way possible.  

I found becoming a parent a very overwhelming experience and in my sleep-deprived state, I didn’t prioritise my health.  I was overweight, had troublesome skin, felt sluggish, tired and had a number of persistent niggles with my shoulders and lower back.

6 years ago, my health and fitness journey began. I decided I had to set some time aside for myself and I started resistance training at the gym and focussed on correctly nourishing my body.  I realised that for years I had got it wrong with yoyo, restrictive, unsustainable dieting and long cardio sessions. I would end up putting on even more body fat than when I originally started and didn’t feel any stronger or healthier.  I have always considered myself an active person but found that coming into mid-life, I needed to change up my approach to health and fitness.

Over the years of training myself,  I learnt the importance of fuelling my body properly and found a love of resistance training. As a result, I gained muscle mass, lost body fat and my aches and pains improved dramatically.

Health and fitness is now a huge part of my life (and always will be).  Where I was once struggling to keep up with the pace of my young children and I felt unhappy in my own skin. I now can say, that as well as feeling healthier physically and mentally, it’s given me passion, goals, motivation and a purpose.  I now have the energy for my children and feel more confident than I ever have before.

In fact, I felt so passionate about being able to help other women experience the same amazing benefits, I trained as a personal trainer in 2022.

When I started training, I didn’t know where to start or how to achieve my goals.  I felt so overwhelmed by how much information was out there and how conflicting it could be.  I spent years researching and educating myself on the fundamentals of weight and strength training, in turn perfecting my own training programs.

I understand the challenges that mid-life,  parenthood, work and a busy life can bring. It’s often tricky to find the time to prioritise yourself and starting something new can be daunting.  But with the right advice and support you can achieve your health and fitness goals.

Whatever your fitness and goals, we will work together to devise a bespoke exercise program that works for you, your body and your lifestyle. My philosophy is that incorporating a fitness regime into your lifestyle should be a positive and enjoyable experience.  It should be something that you look forward to and not dread.

My vision is to deliver first-class training sessions in a safe and comfortable environment, without intimidation or judgement.  I want my clients to come out of their sessions feeling like they have worked hard, yet energised.
